ALBANIA
24.03.2018 - 30.03.2018
Albania is a country in Southeastern Europe. Albania lies in the southwestern portion of the Balkan Peninsula bordered by Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, the Republic of Macedonia to the east, and Greece to the south and southeast.
The modern nation state of Albania emerged in 1912 following the defeat of the Ottomans in the Balkan Wars. The modern Kingdom of Albania was invaded by Italy in 1939 before becoming a Nazi German protectorate in 1943. After the defeat of Nazi Germany, a Communist state titled the People's Socialist Republic of Albania was founded. The country experienced widespread social and political transformations in the communist era, as well as isolation from much of the international community. In the aftermath of the Revolutions of 1991, the Socialist Republic was dissolved and the fourth Republic of Albania was established. During the communism regime the country was so isolated and excluded from any foreign influence that only people allowed to enter the country were citizens of former USSR, China and other socialist countries. Albanians were not allowed to travel outside of Albania at that time.
Albania provides universal health care and free primary and secondary education to its citizens. It is beautiful country with gorgeous landscape, nice people and still in the transformation into more modern era of development. There are more new buildings under the construction. The city is moderately clean and welcoming. Young generation speaks English without problems. The only thing here like in any Balkan countries, people would spend more money on brand clothing to dress better and look better then on food or anything else plus cars. They always look how you dress or what you wear, that gives them the way to judge people. Albanians smoke but comparing to Montenegro where people smoke everywhere, in Albania most establishments do not allow smoking inside.
